MSC's DCSA adoption is real, just not finished yet
MSC confirmed its adoption of the DCSA Commercial Schedules API, giving customers standardized, real-time access to point-to-point routings, vessel schedules, and port schedules instead of manually checking MSC's website or juggling carrier-specific formats. That's a genuine step toward the same interoperability Maersk and other major carriers have built around. But it's a partial rollout, MSC has fully adopted the point-to-point endpoint specifically, with vessel schedule and port schedule endpoints still in development, and DCSA-standard APIs for bookings and bills of lading are on MSC's roadmap, not live yet.
In the meantime, MSC's actual connected offering runs through what it calls the Integration Suite, Track & Trace, Booking, Shipping Instructions, and VGM submission, tying together into what MSC positions as a single digital flow. Access to MSC's Developer Portal itself is gated behind a sales conversation rather than open self-service, and fees may apply depending on your relationship and region. Building your integration around what's genuinely available now, while structured for what DCSA brings later, avoids both under-delivering today and rebuilding tomorrow.
